North Mankato Road Race
Saturday, June 17
The North Star Bicycle Festival visits North Mankato again in 2017. The city of North Mankato is known as the sports hub of Southern Minnesota. The community holds many regional and national sporting events.
The center of activity for the North Mankato stage of the North Star Grand Prix will be at the intersection of Lookout Drive and Lee Blvd. The Start/Finish line and the Expo will be located near this intersection. The riders will complete multiple laps of a 20.5 mile rural circuit which uses beautiful Nicollet County roads and returns to North Mankato up the extra challenging Valerie Lane hill. Spectators will have the chance to walk from the Expo to the top of Valerie Lane to watch the Queen and King of the Hill competitions.
When riders complete their rural circuits they will transfer on to a 3.7 mile circuit within the City of North Mankato. During each of the finishing the circuits the riders will climb the 1-mile Lookout Drive hill. While the hill is not as steep as Valerie Lane the riders will find it equally as challenging due to the frequency they have to race it. This challenging course will provide the riders with two unique climbs which are certain to dictate the outcome of the race.
